Greystone Apartments
Affordable Senior Housing Historic Renovation
2015: Rome, GA
The Armstrong Hotel, also known as the Cherokee Hotel, was built in the late 1880’s. Rebuilt after a fire in the 1930’s, the hotel was renamed the Greystone Hotel. In 1993 the property was converted to affordable apartments. The design of the recent renovation respected the building’s historic Art Deco character and preserved existing terrazzo and wood parquet floors, decorative light fixtures and wood mouldings. Existing interior space was modified to provide new activity rooms including one for Arts Alive, an arts and crafts program for resident and public use. Other amenities include: resident services, game room/billiards and fitness.
